About The Fourth Line
By beer leaguers, for beer leaguers.
The fourth line is often called the energy line. Both because their shifts give the good players a chance to rest, and because their physically oriented play is said to give their teammates an emotional boost. It is usually composed of journeymen with limited scoring potential, but strong physical play and, as often as possible, strong skating abilities. With the smallest amount of ice time, they tend to play in short bursts rather than pace themselves.

This is me. My hockey career peaked when I was 12 years old and now in my 30s, playing mens league hockey, I am an energy guy - sometimes. Most often though, just out for a night with the fellas and a few beers after the game.
The Fourth Line was conceptualised to be a creative outlet catering to people like me. The dusters of beer league hockey. The fourth liners. The pigeons that are happy to be in the lineup. The benders who probably won't score every night but get in the dirty areas, sometimes keep the cycle going, clog the neutral zone and block shots. The pylons who get in everyones way - including his own team, lays the body and sometimes back checks.
We can't all be rippin one tees all the time, but we sure as fuck can have a beer after the game, laugh at each other and be stoked to be playing hockey.
Cheers.
